Understanding Sai Baba

Shirdi Sai temple is a beautiful shrine that was built over the Samadhi of Shri Sai Baba. Since 1922, it carries out the services of Shri Sai Baba. Entire city revolves around Saibaba’s temple.

Baba’s belongings are preserved & displayed here in a special showroom. The Samadhi Mandir was actually owned by a millionaire from Nagpur Shreemant Gopalrao, also known as 'Butti Wada'. He wanted to worship Murlidhar here. However Sai Baba manifested himself as Murlidhar and the temple became Baba’s Samadhi Mandir. It is built with white marble stones. The railings are ornamentally decorated. Baba’s idol is made of Italian marble and was built by Late Balaji Vasant in 1954.

The assembly hall can accommodate about 600 devotees. In first floor, pictures depicting Baba’s life are kept for display. The temple opens at 5 AM with morning prayers, Boopali – the morning song, and closes down at 10 PM with prayers, Shejarati – the night song. The temple remains open overnight on three occasions.
